Dumont's goal sends Predators past Sharks

03/01/2007 - San Jose, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - J.P. Dumont netted the game-winner in the fourth round of the shootout to lift the Nashville Predators past the San Jose Sharks, 4-3.

After Ryane Clowe missed wide on San Jose's first attempt, Alexander Radulov went to the backhand to beat Evgeni Nabokov to give Nashville the lead. Joe Pavelski answered on the Sharks' next attempt, but after the next four shooters came up empty, Dumont beat Nabokov five-hole to win it for the Predators.

Vernon Fiddler, Martin Erat and Alexander Radulov each scored in regulation for Nashville, which has won three in a row. Predators netminder Tomas Vokoun finished with 27 saves.

Steve Bernier, Matt Carle and Marc-Edouard Vlasic each tallied while Nabokov ended with 29 saves for the Sharks, who have dropped three straight.

Thanks to a pair of power-play goals, the Sharks held a 2-1 lead after the first period.

Bernier struck first for San Jose with 7:53 left in the period before Nashville answered as Kimmo Timonen's shot from the left point hit off a Sharks player and then off Fiddler past Nabokov for the score.

Carle put San Jose back in front with 1:10 left before the first intermission when he stuffed home the rebound from Christian Ehrhoff's initial shot.

Erat was unable to convert a penalty shot 12:07 into the second period but he made up for in the third with Nashville on the power play when he rifled a shot top shelf on Nabokov to tie the game, 2-2.

The Predators took the lead with 5:07 left in the game when Radulov redirected Shea Weber's one-timer from the high slot past Nabokov. However, the Sharks answered just a minute later when Vlasic jumped on a loose puck in the slot and fired a shot in the top-right corner past Vokoun.

Ehrhoff was called for hooking on Peter Forsberg with 40 seconds left in overtime, giving the Predators a late power play. Kariya had a golden opportunity to net the game-winner, but Nabokov robbed his one-timer in the slot with five-tenths of a second left on the clock.

Game Notes

Nashville ended a five-game losing streak at HP Pavilion...San Jose went 2- for-8 on the power play, while Nashville went 2-for-6...Peter Forsberg tallied an assist for the Preds.
