02/21/2009 - Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Celtics forward Kevin Garnett will reportedly be sidelined the next 2-3 weeks due to a posterior muscle strain of his right knee.
The Boston Herald and Boston Globe both report Danny Ainge, the Celtics' president of basketball operations, said the team will be cautious with the All-Star forward.
Garnett returned to Boston for evaluation on his strained right knee and was originally only slated to miss the final three games of the reigning NBA champions' six-game West Coast road trip.
Garnett was taken to the locker room with just over one minute left in the second quarter of Thursday's 90-85 loss to Utah after injuring his right leg while leaping for a dunk and did not return.
"The Big Ticket" was jumping for an alley-oop from Paul Pierce and came down awkwardly on the leg. Garnett immediately limped off the floor and was subsequently helped into the locker room.
The Herald reports Garnett was initially scheduled to be examined Saturday, but instead he was checked out upon landing in Boston Friday night.
In 53 games this season, Garnett is averaging 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds.
